The Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003 makes it illegal to dispose of televisions, computer monitors, laptops, and other covered electronic devices in landfills. These items contain lead, mercury, and other hazardous materials that can leach into groundwater if they’re buried.
We route all e-waste to CalRecycle-certified processors. These facilities dismantle devices, separate materials, and recover precious metals like gold and copper while safely containing the hazardous components. A single old tube TV can contain five to eight pounds of lead. That lead gets properly contained at a certified facility, not buried in the ground at Lamb Canyon.
